A guide to your reports
Understand the numbers your report actually contains.
The report summarizes saved activity for a defined period. Use it to review the work recorded for your website, then use connected search or visitor data for the separate question of audience response.
Read the report from top to bottom
| Report field | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Report period | The start and end dates define which saved activity belongs in this summary. |
| Scans run | The number of scans included in the period. Check this before comparing scores from different periods. |
| Score by discipline | The reported average for a measured area. An unmeasured area is shown as not measured; it should not be interpreted as a zero score. |
| Findings by severity | A breakdown of recorded findings by severity, such as critical, high or medium. Use the affected pages to decide what needs action. |
| Technical fixes delivered or applied | Work recorded by the service during the period. Use the website’s publication evidence to distinguish delivery from a confirmed public change. |
| Publication outcomes, when available | Recorded verified, failed or restored batches and the files reported changed in verified batches. Batches and files are different units. |
| Current next step, when available | The action recorded for the website, with a next scheduled analysis where that information exists. |
When a report becomes available
Reports use completed weekly or monthly periods, according to the plan. The scheduled report process requires an active plan and saved scan activity in that period. A new account or a period with no saved scan does not supply the history needed for that report.
Before treating a missing report as a failed publication, check the selected website, reporting period and scan history. Reporting and website publishing have different records.
Three comparisons worth keeping separate
- Technical findings: compare the same pages and measured areas across scans.
- Publication evidence: review whether the intended change was confirmed on the public page, failed a check or was restored.
- Business response: review available search and visitor measurements over consistent periods. These describe a different outcome from fixing a page.
A report can substantiate recorded technical work without proving that rankings, enquiries or revenue increased. Use the relevant business measurements before attributing enquiries or sales to a technical change.
